"In the Footsteps of the Saints"
The purpose of the group is to meet biweekly to read together to discuss issues in Christian spirituality, and to learn about the historical context and life journeys of various authors.
In the past, we spent one year surveying the writings of prominent Anglican authors in a historical sequence from Cranmer to the current Archbishop of Canterbury, and another - to broaden our scope and include some of much earlier authors and those rooted in a variety of Christian traditions, while focusing on the themes of prayer, mysticism, and contemplation, and striving to include an equitable number of female voices.
This year, we will ponder themes in Christian mysticism in connection with the recent "Mystical Landscapes" exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario, using various artworks and artists' life stories as a vehicle for our discussion.
Fall dates are 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month: October 10 and 24, November 14 and 28, and December 12.
We meet in the Chapel, 1-2 pm.
